Many fighters will tell you that it is very hard to find sponsorships. Which is weird right because there are so many companies out there in the world. What if I were to tell you exactly what companies look for in a fighter to sponsor? Is that something you might be interested in?
Well for starters you don’t have to be the best in the world so get that out of your head right now! Winning is obviously important but it isn’t the actual deal breaker. Companies love fighters (not their managers, publicist, or friends) that take the time to reach out to them, marketing, and their ability to self promote.
Whether you’re a pro or ammy fighter you can agree there is a lack of communication when it comes to the companies that sponsor fighters and the expectations. Since I have been a fan there has been conflicting reports and stories so I asked several companies and took a poll.
Fighters and fans get ready because I have the long awaited answers for you…
How do I get sponsors to notice me?
Most companies pretty much had the same answers
Be comfortable with reaching out to sponsors.
Be a positive role model / brand ambassador.
Be loyal to the company or brand.
Have a large social media fan base.
Engage your fans on social media. We need to see fan interaction.
Have a personality! Your personality is needed to market the sponsor’s product to your fans.
Be comfortable with promoting the sponsor to your social media, public appearances, grass roots.
The phrase of the day is SOCIAL MEDIA!!!
